Oh the glory of your own fresh milk!
WOW! What a year. Talk about a monsoon of challenges! Across the board this has been the year of ‘faith of the farmer’. In the fall of 2010, we had some ‘poor body condition’ goats. We didn’t force breeding, in fact thought we had done well to not breed. Surprise! Stella delivered her first boer cross twins in March, Bella delivered boer cross buckling inApril, Jana delivered boer cross triplets by c-section in June, Jada delivered boer cross twins later in June and Aida delivered our only nubian twins…does! Two bucklings have been given to Third Day farm here in Campbellsburg, 3 are growing like weeds, and another 3 are being considered in a trade. That is all good news,… right? Well four of the momma’s have died. Wow, talk about a hit! Horrible, dormant, many egg laying worm named Haemonchus Contortus, or barber pole worm. HORRIBLE! Goat owners watch your goats eyelid, gum color- it must be pink! Check it all the time!
The positive out of all of this is we are now down to a much more manageable size for Kristi to handle. Everyone is healthy too.
We also have two bucks; Robby Ray a full Boer, and Chief a purebred Nubian. Both boys are big and strong. Chief has such a wonderful personality, and Robby Ray… well he’s just a bull!
All of our goats are registered with ADGA or registerable. Check back often to see our kids.
